Streete Active Retirement Group

A full bus left, Streete Parish Park on Friday morning for the country's biggest Garden and Flower Show, Bloom. The group, excited by the weather, enjoyed a super day wandering through the hundreds of growers' displays in the glorious sunshine. As always it was a chance to pick up ideas or purchase some gardening bits and bobs, from the hundreds of exhibitions and merchandising stands.

The gardens were all just simply spectacular, it's hard to imagine the time it takes to put together this truly magnificent show. The group stopped off at Scanlon’s in Kinnegad for dinner on the way home where a most enjoyable meal was served up by wonderful staff and welcoming management. We would like to say a big word of thanks to our community bus driver, Garda, Camila and to the superintendent at Mullingar Garda station for the use of the bus.

Boherquill Ramblers

The Ramblers enjoyed an Idyllic afternoon in the country near Edgeworthstown on Sunday 24 May 2026. Deirdre Leavy led a walk down a quiet country lane lined with cow parsley flowers, daisies, buttercups and forget-me-nots. There were several picturesque cottages among the newer dwellings along the way and the warm sun and continual birdsong completed the summery scene.

Thank you to Deirdre for leading the walk and to the gentleman in the cottage at the end of the lane who produced an unexpected snack for some of the walkers. On Sunday 7 June 2026 the Ramblers will meet at 2pm in Kilbixy. For a 7km forest trail and road walk. See boherquillramblers.ie.
